Stamp Me Alternatives for Independent Cafés

An honest comparison of the digital loyalty apps small venues actually consider — Stamp Me, StampClub, Loopy Loyalty, PassKit and Coffeeloc — and who each one fits.

Disclosure: we make Coffeeloc, which is one of the options below. We have tried to describe the others fairly and to say plainly where they are the better choice. Pricing and features change constantly — treat everything here as a starting point and check each vendor's current pricing page before deciding.

Stamp Me is one of the better-known digital loyalty apps and it does its job well. But it is built around one thing — the stamp card — and it is priced for businesses that want a branded app experience. If you are an independent café weighing it up, it is worth knowing what else is in the category and what each one is actually optimised for.

First, work out what you are buying

The options in this space diverge on four questions. Answer these and the shortlist gets short fast:

  1. Does the customer have to download an app? App-based loyalty gives you push notifications and a polished experience, at the cost of a large drop-off at signup. QR-and-browser loyalty converts far better in a walk-in venue.
  2. Do you need only loyalty, or also menu and ordering? Loyalty-only tools are simpler. All-in-one tools mean one system instead of three subscriptions.
  3. How many locations? Most vendors price per location, and that is where the cost lands for anyone with more than one site.
  4. Do you own the customer data? Can you export your customer list and take it elsewhere? Ask before you start collecting.

The options

Stamp Me

The established name. Digital stamp cards, a customer app, push notifications, campaign tools, and reporting. Sits at the higher end of the pricing range for this category and is aimed at businesses that want a proper branded loyalty presence.

Good fit if: loyalty is your main focus, you want push notifications, and you have the volume to justify a mid-range monthly subscription.
Poor fit if: you want to avoid the app-download step, or you also need a menu and ordering and would rather not run three products.

StampClub

Positions itself as the budget end of digital loyalty — a simple stamp card at a low monthly price. Fewer bells and whistles, and that is the point.

Good fit if: you want the cheapest paid path to a working digital stamp card and nothing else.
Poor fit if: you need campaigns, multiple locations or anything beyond the card.

Loopy Loyalty

Built on Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes rather than a standalone app. Customers add the card to the wallet they already use, which sidesteps the download problem neatly, and you can send push messages to the pass.

Good fit if: you like the wallet-pass approach and want loyalty done well without an app install.
Poor fit if: you need menu, ordering or CRM in the same place.

PassKit

More of a platform than a product — wallet passes, membership cards, coupons, with an API and heavier configuration. Powerful, and correspondingly more work to set up.

Good fit if: you have specific technical requirements or want to integrate loyalty into something you are building.
Poor fit if: you are one café and want to be running by Friday.

Loyverse

A free point-of-sale system with loyalty points built in. If you need a till as well, this is a genuinely strong offer — the loyalty is a feature of the POS rather than the main event.

Good fit if: you want to replace your till and get loyalty along the way.
Poor fit if: you are happy with your current POS and do not want to change how you take payments.

Coffeeloc

Ours. Loyalty stamp card, QR menu, commission-free ordering and a mini CRM in one dashboard, with a free-forever tier covering the stamp card, QR menu and your first 100 customers on one location. No app download — customers scan a QR and get their card in the browser.

Good fit if: you want loyalty and menu and ordering without three separate subscriptions, and you want to test it properly before paying anything.
Poor fit if: you specifically want wallet passes or a branded native app — we do not do either today. If push notifications to a wallet pass are the deciding factor, Loopy Loyalty is the more direct answer.

Feature tables flatter whoever builds them, including this one. The columns above are the ones we think matter for a walk-in café; if your priorities are different — wallet passes, POS integration, a native app — the ranking changes and one of the others wins.

How to actually decide

Do not pick on features. Pick on the two numbers that determine whether any of this works:

  • Signup rate. What share of customers offered the programme actually join? This is where the app-download question is settled, and it settles it decisively.
  • Second-visit rate. Of those who join, how many come back and collect a second stamp? A programme with lots of signups and no repeat visits is a mailing list, not a loyalty scheme.

Run whichever you choose for a month, on real customers, and look at those two numbers. Every vendor in this category — us included — will tell you their approach converts best. The only evidence that counts is from your own counter.

If you want the background on setting the reward and threshold before you start, the digital stamp card guide covers it.
